The 5 Best Christmas Songs for Kids

Christmas is such a special time of year and there are so many traditions that we hold dear to our hearts. Some of my favorite memories are decorating the Christmas tree, going to see lights, and listening to Christmas music.  There are so many great Christmas songs that have been written. Kids love to sing Christmas songs, and love to learn Christmas carols. I want to share the 5 best Christmas songs for kids that they will love to sing.

1. Jingle Bells

“Jingle Bells” is probably one of the most popular Christmas songs ever written.  It is one of the most perfect Christmas songs for kids because it is easy to sing and kids love to play jingle bells while singing.   These jingle bells come in assorted colors and are easy to use for kids of any age.

2. Frosty the Snowman

Kids love to build snowmen.  Depending on where you live, you may or may not get snow.  But, even if you can’t see snow, you can definitely still sing about it.  “Frosty the Snowman” has such a fun melody and is sure to be stuck in kids heads all day long.  This Frosty the Snowman DVD and Frosty the Snowman book are great for teaching kids all about who Frosty is.

3. Santa Claus is Comin to Town

What better song to get kids in the mood for Christmas than “Santa Claus is Comin to Town?” This song is great for teaching about Santa and for also getting kids to remember to be “good for goodness sake.” Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town is a movie that will definitely get kids in the Christmas spirit.

4. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Watch Rudolph and other great holiday movies while learning the music too. “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” is one of my favorite Christmas songs because it teaches about including everyone.  Rudolph is different because he has a red nose, but the other reindeer end up befriending him.  What better way to celebrate Christmas than with a good lesson in moral character?

5. We Wish You a Merry Christmas

“We Wish You a Merry Christmas” is such a simple song to learn, which makes it perfect for kids.  It also has the lyrics “and a happy new year” which is perfect for ushering in the new year.  Kids will be sure to be singing this song all month long.

What are your favorite Christmas songs for kids? Do you have one that you remember from your childhood?
