7 Things You Don’t Know About Me-The Domestic Musician

I am obviously passionate about music education, am an online music teacher, and most of my blog posts are about this.  But, I wanted to let my readers know a little bit more about me.  So, what better way to do that than to tell you 7 things you don’t know about me-The Domestic Musician.

 1. I am an extroverted introvert

I can talk to a camera, a room full of people, a classroom full of kids, play piano on a stage in front of a large crowd, and go out with my friends.  I do not get nervous doing any of that and enjoy it so much.  But, when it comes down to it, my favorite thing to do is to just lay around at home with not a plan in the world.  I come across as outgoing and very loud (oops), but I really have a shy streak and am a major homebody.

2. I have two sisters and went on to have three sons

I am the middle child of three girls.  So, irony dealt me a good hand when it gave me “my three sons”.  I love my boys so very much, but it is so funny how different of a world I live in now surrounded by cars, superheroes, and nerf guns verses the world I grew up in of barbies and dolls.

3. I wanted to be a concert pianist

After starting piano lessons at the age of six, I knew it was something I always wanted to do.  I grew up telling people I wanted to be a concert pianist who traveled the world.  Well, I started college as a piano performance major, then switched my major to music education during my sophomore year.  I realized that if I wanted to have a family one day and teach kids, traveling the world was probably not going to work.

4.  I married a very tall man

I married a man who is 6’6″ and I am 5’6″.  It was pretty hysterical at our wedding when I wore flat sandals and had to stand on my tippy toes for our first kiss.  Fast forward almost 11 years later, and I am so used to the height difference now, that when someone says how tall he is I’m like “oh yeah.”

5.  I love salty foods

I am a female so of course I love me some chocolate and sugar from time to time.  But, I have always had a salty palette.  I am the one who you will always find putting extra salt on my food, even if it doesn’t necessarily need it.

6.  I have a type A personality

I think I am pretty easy going most of the time (my husband may differ with me on this ha).  But, when it comes down to organization, cleaning, and keeping a schedule or a calendar, I am very type A.  I like things the way I like them and have to learn sometimes to loosen the reins a little.

7. I have an eclectic music taste

Some people can pinpoint exactly what kinds of music they like or who their favorite artist or band is.  I find this fascinating, because I seriously can listen to anything.  I love worship music and play on my church’s worship team, but I also love 90’s boy bands, country, rap, pop, Classical, and any female artist like Mariah Carey who can belt out a tune.

What are things I don’t know about you?  Can you relate to anything in my list?

  1. I love “about me” posts! I feel like “extroverted introvert” would describe me as well. 🙂

  2. I definitely have an eclectic range of music that I love too! This was a fun list. 🙂

  3. Fun post! I definitely like a variety of music – 90’s, country, some hip hop/rap (I really like Eminem), alternative/pop-rock, musicals, and so much more!

    1. That’s so fun how you have such a great taste in a variety of music. It would definitely get boring listening to the same stuff over and over.

  4. I loved learning these facts about you! Though I already knew your love of the awesome 90’s era of music from your guest post 🙂 I’m an extroverted introvert, too. People think I’m really outgoing, but I spend most of my weekends holed up in my apartment and it makes me really happy 🙂

  5. Boys are definitly different than girls. I have all sisters and have all boys as does my one sister.
Would not trade my boys for the world but I’ll admit I was stoked buy baby girl stuff when my niece was born.

  6. I’m with you. Whenever people ask me my favorite type of music I tell them I like everything but ska, and it’s really true. I also play on my church’s worship team! I never learned the art of boys- I have 2 sisters and now 2 daughters 😉 And I am an introverted introvert haha. I HATED having to give my senior recital in college- I despise performing, especially as a soloist. BUT I am not shy at all as a teacher! So I guess there’s that. I’ve enjoyed “getting to know you” through your website, and look forward to everything to come!

    1. I love it! Maybe musicians like every kind of music because we are musicians? Hmm… That’s awesome you play on your church worship team too! Raising boys is quite interesting and way different than having sisters ha! I can play piano and did great at my senior recital, but when it comes to singing, not so much! I have loved getting to know you too!

  7. My musical tastes are also wide and varied. I grew up in England during the Beatles heyday and also Tom Jones. I moved to Jamaica where I discovered reggae, soul funk, rock. I also learned classical piano. I like Mariah too but she has lost form. She was in Jamaica a few years ago lip synching.

    1. Oh I love this! Yeah Mariah has lost form. Her voice is incredible but her Diva status is getting out of control. Also…I love the Beatles!
