10 Things to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving

10 Things to Be Thankful for this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the time of year to stop and reflect on what we’re thankful for.  Life gets busy and it’s easy to lose track of what we truly have.  As I was reflecting on what I have,  I chose 10 things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

1. God

Without God, I would not be where I am in my life today.  So many times I have looked back on parts of my life and have seen that God was in them every step of the way.  As one of my favorite verses Psalms 121:8 says, “the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

2. Family

This sounds so cliche, but I am truly thankful for my family.  I have been blessed with an amazing husband and three pretty fantastic little boys.  I feel so honored to be able to call myself a wife and mom, as well as a daughter and a sister, and am grateful for the opportunity to have this family of mine. If you want to know a few fun facts about me, you can read about it here.

3. Friends

Having friends who I can trust and confide in is pretty awesome.  A few of my closest friends have either known me for a long time, or have been there for me during rough seasons of life.  Thinking about so many friendships that have either stood the test of time, or have just entered my life recently, makes me feel so blessed to have them.

4. Work

During one of the hard seasons of life, my husband and I moved to a new state and he started a new job.  For the first time, I became a stay at home mom after being a music teacher in a public school for several years.  We are in a great season of life now, where we are both blessed doing jobs we love.

5. Music

I feel so very thankful for music.  Music has always played a huge part in who I am as a person, but also helps me with my mental health.   No matter what kind of day I’m having, or what emotions I am feeling, I can always find a song to listen to. I am so grateful for piano and being able to play and teach the instrument I love so much.

6. Health

I experienced a health scare, and am thankful that it wasn’t anything serious.  To be healthy and happy is so very important to me.  Each day we have on this earth, we should live it to the fullest.  I never want to waste one moment of my life.

7. Pets

This sounds kind of cheesy, but pets are pretty great.  My dog can bring me out of the worst of moods.  She doesn’t care what I look like or if I’m having a bad day.  She will curl up in a ball and snuggle on me and that is unconditional love.

8. Home

To me, it isn’t my house, but I am grateful for a home.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the house we live in and we absolutely love living here.  But, I am grateful for the sense of peace and how we can relax in our house.  A home isn’t the people who live in the house, but how we feel when we’re together.

9. Seasons

I love how life has seasons and I never know what tomorrow will bring.  I’m grateful that I’ve already been through several seasons of life and how I have several more to come.  Some people don’t look forward to seasons as they get older, but I think we can learn from each season of life.

10. Freedom

Being able to live in a free country is something I don’t take lightly.  So many serve and fight for our freedom, so I can live in America.  Being able to have the freedom to make choices and live life the way I see fit is pretty great.  I don’t ever take this for granted.

Do you stop and reflect at Thanksgiving for everything you are thankful for?

  1. I wrote a list recently of things that make me happy to keep myself positive, I should write a post about it! Most if not all of the things on it are things I’m thankful for as well.

    1. Oh that’s so great! It’s so easy to take the day to day things for granted and I love to stop and reflect sometimes about what I truly have.
