Favorite Music Education Blogs

There are so many great blogs out there, but I’m going to share a list of my favorite music education blogs. You can listen to episode 246 of The Elementary Music Teacher podcast where I talk about why I love these blog posts as well.

The Domestic Musician blog with me (Jessica Peresta)

My blog features an assortment of music education related topics as well as personal blog posts too. Some of the blog posts go hand in hand with a podcast episode and others are stand alone reads.

Make Moments Matter blog with David Row

David Row is amazing and has been a guest on The Elementary Music Teacher podcast. He teaches using the Orff approach and his blog posts do a great job of breaking things down in an easy to understand way.

MusicEd Blogs Community

This community is a curated set of blog posts written by different authors. Basically, it’s a one stop shop to finding an assortment of music education blogs.

Mrs. Cookie’s Music Room blog with Elizabeth Kutschke

Elizabeth’s blog is fantastic. One of the topics she writes about that is needed is about sub plans in the music room.

Steve’s Music Room blog with Steve Giddings

Steve is an out-of-the box thinker and his blog reflects this. He loves incorporating popular music into his music room and writes about a lot of different topic ideas.

Yellow Brick Road blog with Jennifer Hibbard

The Yellow Brick Road blog includes a variety of lesson ideas and other music education related content specifically for elementary music.

Victoria Boler’s blog with Victoria Boler

Victoria’s blog is one of the most organized and well laid out blogs I’ve seen. The blog posts are written in a step by step format with extensive explanations and examples to show you how to use what she teaches.

Becca’s Music Room blog with Becca Davis

I heard Becca speak about centers in the music room at a summer conference and went to check out her blog. She writes a lot of posts, but some of my favorites are about incorporating centers into the music room and upper elementary ideas.

Mrs. Stouffer’s Music Room blog with Melissa Stouffer

Melissa Stouffer presents ideas in her blog from a Kodaly perspective. I’ve learned a lot from reading her posts.

Mrs. Miracles Music Room blog with Aileen Miracle

Honestly, Aileen is the queen of the music education blogging community. Her blog is probably one of the first ones out there and there’s so much amazing content to read through.

F-flat Books blog

You may have known about F-flat books as an eBook company, but did you know they also had an amazing blog? One of my favorite parts about their blog is the fact that different music educators and authors create blog posts for the site.

Beth’s Music Classroom blog

Beth’s blog is a great one because there are tons of teaching and song ideas to use in the elementary music r0om.

Organized Chaos blog with Elizabeth Caldwell

Elizabeth Caldwell’s blog is full of blog posts to help make your music classroom equitable for all learners. This is one of my favorite music education blogs because not only does she write tons of music education related content, but she also writes posts about juggling being a mom as well.
